About Dexterity Systems

See a need, fill a need.

My name is Jord, and I started Dexterity Systems to bring professional IT services to the community I grew up in. After years of working tech support at O-Net (before it was acquired by Telus), I saw firsthand how underserved rural Alberta is when it comes to honest, accessible tech help.

Too many people get told to "just buy a new one" when their device is perfectly repairable. Too many seniors get talked down to. Too many small businesses pay enterprise prices for basic IT support. I wanted to change that.

Why "Dexterity"?

The name comes from Dexter, my 15-year-old cairn terrier. He's been with me through everything. Cairn terriers were bred to hunt vermin in the Scottish Highlands, which means they're stubborn, resourceful, and loyal to a fault. They don't give up on a problem until it's solved.

That's the kind of service I want to provide. Loyal. Persistent. Actually useful. I won't upsell you on things you don't need, and I won't abandon a problem until it's fixed.

Right to Repair

I'm a strong believer in your right to repair and modify the devices you own. Dexterity Systems operates under Bill C-244 (the Right to Repair Act) and Bill C-294 (Interoperability), which protect Canadians' rights to fix their own technology and access independent repair services.

These laws, passed unanimously by Parliament in 2024, allow Canadians to bypass digital locks for repair and maintenance purposes. Manufacturers shouldn't get to decide when your device becomes e-waste. If it can be fixed, it should be fixed.

Local Service

I live in Olds. I shop here, I know people here, and I care about this community. When you call Dexterity Systems, you're not getting a call center. You're getting me.
